However did this happen?
What reason could you give?
For this kind of dreadful life
Now you have to live.
Where have all your family gone?
With security of a home,
Instead you’re living in solitary,
No place to call your own.
Does anyone ever miss you?
Wonder how you are?
Perhaps it’s something you’ve done
To make them go so far.
All your hours are taken
Walking through the streets,
Trying to find a warm place
That’s safe for you to sleep.
And when those hunger pains
Start to take effect,
You plead with passers by for help
With the utmost of respect.
How long will these streets
Be classed as your abode?
I’m sure you’ve asked this question
But the answer never shows....

Aw, this poem is really sad. It takes me right inside the pain of a homeless person. You've done a good job of exploring what someone in that situton would feel.
You had to have someone in mind for this expression?
Or, maybe no, you wrote it for all of the drifting, homeless, hopeless, defeated among us.
We are warm but others may be cold.

Wow! How touching. I'm sure you are right on track there with this poem. The feeling and thought you have put into it, is amazing. Well done, another great poem. Keep them coming.

the answer more often than not lies in the fact that they were unable to support themselves.. due to lack of job,, emotional problem, mental problems grief,, loss of a job,, the stories are as varied as the faces,, but more often than not,, it was not a conscious choice,, it was a twist of fate,, a twist of fate the majority of us are only one paycheck away from understanding first hand....
very thought provoking piece...

Being homeless in the USA is NEEDLESS!! We need to find homes, work, and lives for the families out on the street! I always gravitate to works such as yours as it is true and clear...Great work, Stacey!
