His Special World

Hurt and anger that comes from inside,
Frustration confusion that can’t subside,
Trying to comfort but pushed away
A blank look upon his face.

Our world is so different within his eyes,
Words that are spoken not recognised
People around him are pushed away,
Being alone is part of his day.

Senses much stronger than yours and mine,
From a touch in his hand to hearing a noise.
A taste on his tongue and different smells
Just adds confusion within his world.

Beautiful, big tearless eyes,
Emotionless actions are no surprise,
Obsessional rituals are what keep him safe,
Doing them over and over again…………..

Very intense! You made me feel his suffering.

Only someone with understanding and feeling can write a poem like this. Very touching.

The words comes like a beautiful stream bubbling with the waters of early spring through a still sleeping forest. A hard floating stock of wood hit's my head and generates waves of strong poignant around my heart, and I look at my Flat-coated Retriever/Border Collie with tears in my eyes and promise her, to make life much easier for her.

Thanks for realtime feed-back :-D

I really hope Your children didn't get offended of my subjective interpretation! :-Z

Sorry!

I see by the three last lines what You mean. I feel I have so many questions I would like to ask You, but I don't want to interfere with this beautiful poem, not now.

(( Love n' Understanding))

Thank you pwb manager, a few words are some times powerful enough to portray someones suffering.

Val your kind, understanding words are very much appreciated

Anna-Lys I have left a couple of messages on your site as you'll be aware.
Your subjective interpretation was not at all taken wrongly,it made sense as animals can be just like our children and they also have those big beautiful eyes! :)

Some are meant for other worlds; ours may be too crude and forceful.
Some may serve as examples of those to come as we progress with developing into caring and empathetic beings.
Some serve as examples for us to learn detail and feeling from.
I love your poem.

Stacey said...

Goatman, Your kind words really tell me that you truly understand the meaning behind the words in my poem, BIG thank you!! :)

A wonderfuly expressive and touching piece. Have I missread or does this not concern autism?

Stacey said...

Thanks so much Ozymandiaz,
Im glad you like and understand the meaning behind my poem!!
You have not missread at all. It is connected with Autism, it means a great deal that you have picked up on the theme. This also leads me to the conclusion that you must have some understanding of this and other similar conditions..... :-)

Thank you very much Samrina, and hope to see you back :)

Stacey, very touching poem and thanks for the Happy Easter wish..I hope Easter finds you and your family well also. I'll e-mail you a column and poem I wrote for Word Catalyst a couple of months ago; similar topic.

Very very nice piece you wrote! There is so much more to it than simple words. Wonderful!

ozymandiaz said...

Actually, Stacey, I have very little direct knowledge of this particualr subject. It was just that you wrote the poem so well, expressing the nuances of the condition, it seemed to me a reasonable conclusion. I have, though, known parents of special needs children and greatly sympathize. Having so called "normal" children (whatever that means) is challenging enough. From what I have seen though, there is no burden too great for loving parents.

Thank you Soulpoetrysiteblog I have left you a comment on your site, thank you for stopping by.

Thanks Dan I have left you a comment on your site and e-mailed you ;)

Ozymandiaz, wow! thank you that you feel I have expressed so well, but I still say your knowledge in this condition must be a lot greater than you think!! :-)

By the time I got to the last line of your poem, Stacey, I was thinking, "Wow, this could be how the world appears to a child with autism!" If it is, you gave it justice, Stacey, and I'd like to feature it on Poetmeister 4 Poets!, if you'll let me. I'd like to give it more exposure..:)

Stacey said...

Janetleigh, you have hit it on the nail-yes it is about Autism....
and it would be my pleasure for you to feature it on Poetmeister 4Poets!,- as just maybe it may high light a little more awareness for Autism and other brain conditions like this (if you understand my point)! thankyou for your kind words and am so glad that you understood the meaning behind the words!! ;-)

Could indentify the emotion and message in this immediately. One of my sons is autistic. I've found that writing from such an observant perspective is so cathartic. Beautifully expressed, Stacey. Ali

Stacey said...

Thank you Alison for your kind comments and for visiting, hope to see youa again!

Ali, I would welcome poetry from you as well as others on the subject of autism to give it & you as a poet more exposure. If you're interested, you (& others) can either post your poems in the Comment Section of Stacey's poem at Poetmeister 4 Poets! and I will make them a blog entry of their own, or you can mail them to me at

poetmeister AT mindspring DOT com

[I hope you don't mind that I did this Stacey. If so, just delete this comment, please..:)
