A woman's treasure

Sitting in comfort, sipping her tea,
Manicured hands resting on her knee.
General conversation we pass between,
When payback time is all I dream…

Nodding and smiling with pretence in mind,
The trap was set, it was nearly time,
Making excuses I grab for the phone,
Needing to leave her completely alone.

Stood in the kitchen with ear to the door,
Rustling sounds as she searches my drawers.
Holding my breath, my heart beating fast,
She lets out a scream, I cant help but laugh.

The thief was caught, though it took some time,
For weeks she stole what was rightfully mine,
A lesson that she needed to be taught,
Was brought on by her - she was solely at fault.

The mouse trap I found in the D.I.Y store,
Came in handy to place in the drawer,
Put just inches within her reach,
Enough to make her jump off her feet.

The secret stash of my chocolate treats,
Had been going missing for many weeks,
Now I’m sure they’re safe and sound,
Anywhere I choose to put them down!

I've heard of people who stack all sorts of bottles haphazardly in the medicine cabinet so that when a nosy guest opens it to see whats doing, all comes tumbling out with a great racket and fanfare!!
We must protect our vital substances.

Good Evening, my Dear Poetry-Nerd ;-)
Hope You are having a lovely weekend and that Your hat is not to wet, of the rain, that keeps falling on British heads ;-)

I wonder, where in England do the Stacey Family live?

(( hug ))

ANNA-LYS said...

Just one more question: Do to mt birthday I have had one or two too many glasses of wine, and feel rather hot under the hat. Would I be very rude if I took it off?

Stacey said...

Thank you samrina glad you enjoyed :)

Good evening Anna-Lys
unfortunatly the rain in southern england will not stop falling-so the hat will remain firmly in place (otherwise I will look like a drowned rat):O
And I am sorry birthday or not, your hat must remain firmly on as well(otherwise you will have to get the hair straightners out as I have heard that the rain we are getting is coming over to Sweden, but much worse haha)!! ;-)

oh this is sooo good, sooo very funny.. It has brought an early morning smile to my day..

In my house it is my husband who hides his stash and who loves his chocolate; I had best not let him get wind of this poem.. By fingers will tread ever so carefully from this day on..

Stacey said...

Thank you Carol
I am glad that I brought a smile to your face :-)
If your husband loves his chocolate that much, you had best be careful, just incase he has already thought of the trap.....the mouse trap(lol)...;-)
